Basic Concepts of Grinding Mills

A grinding mill is a machine that reduces large solid raw materials to a required size.

According to the size of the feed or product, grinding mills can be divided into coarse crushers, grinders, and ultrafine mills.

The external forces applied to solids during grinding are shearing, impact, rolling, and grinding. Shearing is mainly used in coarse crushing (crushing) and grinding operations, suitable for tough or fibrous materials and the crushing or grinding of large lumps; impact is mainly used in grinding operations, suitable for brittle materials; rolling is mainly used in high-fines grinding (ultrafine grinding) operations, suitable for ultrafine grinding of most materials; grinding is mainly used in ultrafine grinding or very large grinding equipment, suitable for further grinding after the grinding operation.

The actual grinding process usually involves several external forces acting simultaneously, but a good grinding mill is tailored to the grinding environment.
