Flue gas desulfurization is mainly divided into two processes: dry and wet, and the corresponding grinding equipment differ in design positioning, performance characteristics, and applicable scenarios. Many enterprises have a vague understanding of the differences between the two types of grinding equipment when selecting a process. This article focuses on dry desulfurization grinding mills and wet desulfurization supporting grinding equipment, sorting out the core differentiated features from four aspects: process adaptation, performance advantages, operating costs, and scenario adaptation, to help enterprises choose suitable equipment based on their own conditions.
The process adaptability and core functions are different. The Peman dry desulfurization grinding mill core serves the dry desulfurization process, responsible for grinding the desulfurizer into ultrafine dry powder, which is directly sent to the desulfurization reaction tower through pneumatic conveying for gas-solid two-phase reaction, with no wastewater or slurry throughout. The equipment core requires uniform dry powder fineness, smooth conveying, and no caking, with a structure focusing on dry powder grinding and negative-pressure conveying. The wet desulfurization supporting grinding equipment is mostly a slurry mill, mainly grinding raw materials such as limestone into slurry, which is sent to the desulfurization tower for liquid-gas reaction. The core requires uniform slurry concentration without impurities, with a structure focusing on wet grinding, slurry stirring, and anti-sedimentation, relying on a large amount of water and requiring a supporting wastewater treatment system.
In the comparison of performance and operation and maintenance advantages, the dry desulfurization grinding mill stands out. First, no wastewater pollution. The whole process is dry operation, without supporting wastewater and sludge treatment facilities, with low environmental compliance pressure and strong site adaptability, and can be used normally in water-deficient areas. Wet grinding requires continuous water supply, generating large amounts of wastewater and sludge, with complex treatment processes and high environmental costs. Second, simple operation and maintenance. The dry equipment has a compact structure, without slurry corrosion and blockage problems, with no rusting of components and small maintenance workload, and a low operation threshold. The wet grinding equipment is easily corroded by slurry, with pipes and pumps prone to blockage and wear, high maintenance frequency, and high operation and maintenance labor and consumable costs. Third, fast response. Dry grinding can quickly adjust the feeding amount according to the flue gas load, with convenient start and stop, suitable for working conditions with large load fluctuations. Wet slurry preparation takes a long cycle and has a slow response, making it difficult to adapt to rapid load change scenarios.
At the level of cost and scenario adaptation, the dry desulfurization grinding mill has moderate upfront investment, and its later operation and maintenance costs, reagent loss, and environmental treatment costs are far lower than those of wet grinding equipment, suitable for small and medium enterprises, old plant renovations, water-deficient areas, and site-constrained projects. The wet grinding equipment has a huge supporting system with high upfront infrastructure and equipment investment, suitable for large projects such as large thermal power plants with sufficient water and ample site.
Overall, with its core advantages of no wastewater, simple operation and maintenance, low cost, and wide adaptability, the dry desulfurization grinding mill has become the mainstream choice under the current background of tightening environmental protection, while the wet grinding equipment is only suitable for specific large wet desulfurization projects. Enterprises need to rationally choose the appropriate grinding equipment and desulfurization process based on their own site, water source, budget, and environmental requirements.
